How many carbs a day to lose weight depends on a variety of factors, including your caloric needs. Here are a few tips for how to calculate your carbohydrate needs for weight loss [



  1. Determine your daily calorie needs for weight loss. If you need help calculating your numbers, talk with a registered dietitian.

  2. Multiply that number by 45% and then 65%. 

  3. Divide the number by 4 to determine your daily carb needs in grams.

For example, someone who needs ~1,800 calories/day to achieve their weight loss goals should aim to have 200 - 300 g/carbs/day.
